Natalie Portman wore female empowerment to the 2020 Oscars—literally. The actress had the names of female directors snubbed this year embroidered on the collar of her black and gold Dior ensemble.

In an interview with The Cut, Portman shared how she wanted to “recognize the women who aren’t recognized for their incredible work this year.”

This isn’t the first time Portman threw shade about the lack of recognition for female directors. Before presenting the Best Director award at the 2018 Golden Globes, she presented the nominees by saying they were “all male.”

Among the names embroidered on her outfit were Lulu Wang, Greta Gerwig, Lorene Scafaria and Marielle Heller.

Well that’s a big clapback to the Oscars, that’s for sure. Hopefully the Academy hears her out and gives female directors a chance in the years to come.
