Pili Oil Is the Beauty Secret You Never Knew About

Beauty oils are one staple that won’t be leaving the market anytime soon. From argan oil to rosehip, and from Moroccan to sunflower, each one possess a miracle benefit and begs to be included in your nightly regimen.

Most of the time, however, they cost a pretty penny and make us doubt if the oil slick we’re putting on our faces is just plain gimmickry. Still, most of the time beauty oils are plant-based and do deliver results artificially produced ingredients just can’t quite replicate. Thus more oils are getting developed each day.

One that recently caught my attention is pili oil. It’s locally made and contains just as many skincare benefits as any other beauty oil out there. Extracted from the pulp of the pili fruit, it has moisturizing properties like vitamin E and antioxidants. These antioxidants are called carotenoids and phytosterols that nourish the skin and protect it from cell damage. Carotenoids tend to be in many skin creams to fight off aging while phytosterols are naturally occurring cholesterols in plants, especially nuts, that help restore the hair and skin. Most of the time, these two can be found together in plant-based serums, lip-balms, and treatments.

What’s more is how pili oil is anti-viral, anti-microbial, and anti-bacterial. It fights foreign bodies in your skin on different levels. Many of our skin issues aren’t caused by just one element after all, but are the effects of a combination of irritants. Just think of how a pimple is caused by a combination of oil, sweat, and dirt, if not a sign of coming in contact with an allergen.

If you’re wondering where you can trade up your beauty oil preference, you can check out Pili. It’s a Bicol-based company that offers pili-infused skincare products from bath soaps (P336) and lip balms (P336). That just means you can slather not just your face but your entire body in pili oil. I especially like the body oil not just for massaging but, when used with a light hand, can be a body moisturizer.

What’s good about this is how you’re not only getting the benefits of your beloved skincare regimen at a lesser cost but you’re supporting our local industry as well. Who knows? This may just be the start of finding new indigenous products that could be the next big thing in the beauty world.
