Sofia Vergara’s ex-fiancé Nick Loeb filed a lawsuit against her on behalf of her two frozen embryos.
The embryos, named “Emma” and “Isabella,” were named as plaintiffs in a right-to-live lawsuit in Louisiana. The state is also traditionally pro-life that offers special protection for frozen embryos. According to sources, the lawsuit claims that they were deprived of an inheritance because they were kept frozen.
It also asks that they be given to Nick so they can be born and receive the Louisiana trust fund that was set up for them.
The embryos were made via in vitro fertilization in 2013 and failed twice. The couple split up shortly after.
Nick previously wrote an op-ed piece for the The New York Times, saying that the embryos have a right to live. He also says that when they signed a contract for the in vitro treatment, he was not told what would happen to them when he and Sofia split up.
Other sources say that Sofia texted Nick some time in 2013 about freezing the embryos, saying, “I’m doing it because I want you to have a baby.”
As of now, Sofia’s team hasn’t spoken on the matter yet. Yes, it’s a bizarre turn of events, but do you guys think it’s right to sue someone over unborn embryos?
