Start your Saturday afternoon by reading up on another celebrity wedding. It’s been two months since Serena Williams gave birth, now we get to see what her fairytale wedding looked like. As someone who loves Disney movies, Serena and Alexis Ohanian’s ceremony was inspired by Beauty and the Beast with songs like “Be My Guest” playing at the reception. The couple also had their first dance to “Tale as Old as Time.”
During the ceremony, the couple decided to exchange vows that they wrote themselves. Alexis started out making jokes but ended on a sentimental note, “You are the greatest of all time, not just in sport. I’m talking about as a mother and as a wife. I am so excited to write so many more chapters of our fairy tale together. And my whole life I didn’t even realize it, but I was waiting for this moment.”
The beautiful bride had three dresses prepared for the night. According to Vogue, for the ceremony, she wore a ball gown silhouette dress and cape by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. As she entered the reception, she had on a beaded, feathered Versace dress. The final outfit she put on was another Versace number, a fitted dress with a short skirt. As the after party started, Serena slipped into more comfortable shoes: a pair of bejeweled Nike sneakers.
Just when the guests thought that wedding couldn’t get any better, Alexis had another surprise for Serena. In front of guests like Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian, and Beyoncé, “Alexis grabbed the mic to reveal the final surprise of the evening for his new bride. People told him it couldn’t be done, he said. But, when people say no to Alexis in his business or personal life, he always accepts the challenge.” As Alexis was speaking, a curtain dropped to reveal a carousel, the kind you would see in amusement parks.
