Dear men, in case you didn’t know: Chrissy Teigen is not just a bikini model

If you look at Chrissy Teigen’s Instagram page, it’s now dominated with photos of her children, Luna and Miles. And we certainly ain’t complainin’. But one troll was. In a recent post, Chrissy and her hubby John Legend were showing Luna her new bed—a big step for her, as she’s moving on from her crib. It was super adorbs, and a lot of netizens agree.

But as expected, not everyone felt that way (how??). One troll commented, “Bikini pics only, you were a model nobody cares about your kids.” Okay, first of all, wrong. As evident in the comments section, we’re not the only ones living for Luna and Miles content. Second, the comment is proof that men continue to look at women as mere sexual objects. Chrissy is an accomplished cookbook author, a game-show host, a meme queen (yep, that’s a real title), and an amazing mom. But some people—men, especially—only see her as a bikini model. As if her value is reduced to just that part of her.

But don’t worry, Chrissy is never a victim. Her response, as expected, was epic. “Yeah well now that I’ve had kids you don’t want to see me in a bikini so it’s quite the dilemma,” she replied. I mean. Obviously, she’s much more than her amazing body. Her wits is one of the things we love most about her.

Her statement was so on point. It wasn’t just a shallow diss, but a social commentary. Really, it points to a deeper truth: Sometimes, women just can’t win. Some people like that douche wants her to post bikini photos. However, when she does post one, or a “sensual” photos of herself, some people think it’s inappropriate, especially ‘cause she’s a mom. Others, as she pointed out, would insult her because her body isn’t what it used to be. Um, what do you expect, people? People age, and bodies change. It’s the most normal thing in the world.

You can’t possibly think her body is still the same as what you’ve seen on her famous Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition debut in 2010 and cover in 2014—a high point in her career, which, as she told Women’s Health, is actually not all it’s cracked up to be. In an interview with the publication last year, the now 33-year-old talked about the pressure she felt to achieve a certain body type because of her career. “Honestly, I don’t ever have to be in a swimsuit again,” she said. “Since I was 20 years old, I had this weight in my mind that I am, or that I’m supposed to be. I’ve been so used to that number for 10 years now. And then I started realizing it was a swimsuit-model weight. There’s a very big difference between wanting to be that kind of fit and wanting to be happy-fit.”

She also talked about how she learned to accept her body as a mom. She reveals that post-partum, she experienced depression. “After Luna, I was drinking too much,” she admitted. “I wasn’t eating as much because I was full from drinking. I wasn’t being good to my body.” She shared that after a wellness retreat, her mindset changed. “It’s like, what could be more important than mental health? What’s more important than being proud of yourself and doing the best you can for your body?”

Yass, girl! We’re so proud she overcame that and is now in a more healthy with her body.

PS. Chrissy, if you’re reading this, we think it’s perfectly okay for you to post bikini posts. You still got it, are you kidding?

PPS. Please, please, keep the Luna and Miles posts coming. Thank you!!!
