After suing Forever 21, Ariana Grande is being accused of copying too

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum Farrah Moan is accusing Ariana Grande of copying one of her outfits. This came after Ariana and her team sued Forever 21 for $10 million for allegedly using her likeness in a fashion campaign.

Farrah took to Twitter and alleged that “her team literally sent a pic of me to the designer and paid them to copy my look from [‘All Stars 4’]” for the ‘7 Rings‘ music video. She then shared a photo of herself and Ariana wearing identical bedazzled bodysuits with the same tassle details.

Ariana should give me a cut of that 10M since her team literally sent a pic of me to the designer and paid them to copy my look from as4. (Finally met the designer and got told the Tea) I guess stealing from queer artists for profit is fine tho ??‍♀️ pic.twitter.com/1smGr8K4G0

Farrah also mentioned that a fellow drag queen designed Ariana’s outfit. (After a little digging, we found it was Mindy L’Amour.) “Finally met the designer and got told the [tea,]” she said. “I guess stealing from queer artists for profit is fine [though.]” In a separate tweet, Farrah told a netizen she’d known for months that Ariana took inspiration from her look and “was actually flattered by it.” But she’s deciding to speak up after seeing the lawsuit filed against Forever 21.

Ariana and her team filed the lawsuit in the US District Court in California yesterday, which stated that Forever 21 used the singer’s likeness in a campaign. The model was seen wearing bejeweled pink pompoms in her hair and purple camo pants similar to Ariana’s “7 Rings” outfits. According to the lawsuit, as cited by Quartzy, Forever 21 not only copied Ariana’s look, but also used her photos for the campaign, which made it seem like the singer was endorsing the brand.

The court filing also noted that Forever 21 actually reached out to the singer for an endorsement deal last November but was turned down. It also stated that the brand “piggybacked on the success of [Ariana’s] fame and new album” to boost their sales amid their looming bankruptcy.

However, Ariana hasn’t addressed Farrah’s allegations, nor has Mindy confirmed it publicly. The bottomline here is to stop copying from artists and using their likeness for profit without their permission.
