Kris Aquino has officially ended another controversial chapter in her life. After sharing her financial troubles which allegedly involved her former business partner, she announced on Instagram that she and Nicko Falcis have ended their feud.
This has been going on since last year and you might’ve forgotten about it—or just stopped following the whole drama altogether. But we’re keeping you up to date with a quick timeline of the Aquino vs Falcis feud.
September 2018
Kris Aquino first spoke about the “financial abuse” she experienced and how it took a toll on her health. She claimed on Facebook she lost weight within six weeks because of an unnamed business partner taking advantage of KCAP’s (Kris’ production company) finances. She also expressed her fear that her sons’ trust fund was affected.
November 2018
After taking a break and speaking with her lawyers, Kris filed 44 counts of qualified theft and violation of the Access Devices Act against Nicko Falcis, the former project manager of KCAP and Nacho Bimby. According to Inquirer.net, “The separate complaints for the same offenses were filed before the Office of the City Prosecutors in Mandaluyong, Pasig, Makati, Quezon City, and Manila.”
According to the lawsuit, Nicko allegedly used KCAP’s credit card for P1.27 million worth of personal expenses without Kris’ knowledge. This included the purchase of almost P100,000 worth of cosmetics and multiple coffee orders. Nicko tried to pay her back with a check worth P437,595.67, but it was obviously not enough because he still owed P800,000 and the trust was already broken.
Around the same time, Kris also filed a cyber libel case against Nicko’s younger brother, Jesus Falcis. According to the host, she was allegedly described as a “liar,” “spoiled oligarch brat,” and “one who fooled his family, paid a blogger, politicize everything and always longs for a man’s company” in his social media posts.
February 2019
Months into the feud, Nicko’s sister and mother defended him and called Kris a liar. The ex-project manager also filed a complaint against Kris, accusing her of making a death threat over the phone on Sept. 27, 2018. Inquirer.net noted that a woman was heard saying “Dare to step in this country and you will be dead” in the phone recording.
Kris admitted it was her and apologized. Her lawyer Eloisa Sy defended her, saying it was “said in the heat of passion.” Likewise, Kris filed a counter-affidavit to dismiss the complaint.
March 2019
Nicko posted on Instagram, telling Kris to stop playing victim after she reacted to Philip Salvador (Josh Aquino’s father) and Bong Go’s insensitive joke. This was probably meant to stir the pot and accuse the talk show host of using pity to her favor.
April 2019
The Quezon City Prosecutors Office junked the grave threat complaints filed by the Falcis brothers. The former claimed they tried to set a meeting with Kris, but was allegedly ignored. The drama continued on Instagram with Kris also accusing Nicko of not showing up to a mediation meeting, among other things.
Long story short: It was messy.
July 2019
ANC reported that Kris’ qualified theft and access device fraud complaints against Nicko was dismissed due to lack of probable cause. It was junked in Pasig City, Makati City, and Taguig City. However, Nicko was still indicted for estafa and fraudulent use of access device in Taguig.
August 2019
Kris didn’t show up to the cyber libel pre-trials. Jesus Falcis said on Instagram this was the fifth time she’s done this. Yikes.
October 2019
Kris and the Falcis brothers have finally reached a settlement. According to DivinaLaw’s official press statement, “Ms. Kristina Bernadette C. Aquino, Mr. Nicardo M. Falcis II, and Atty. Jesus Nicardo M. Falcis III have fairly settled all financial issues and amicably worked out all personal differences. To avoid any future misunderstanding, no further statement shall be forthcoming.”
