Another contender has arrived to replace the K-beauty trend: F-beauty, aka Filipino beauty.
Last August, British Vogue reported that although K-beauty isn’t dying down soon, beauty lovers are already looking into J-beauty. But Huffington Post reminded everyone not to forget about Filipino brands.
If K-beauty and J-beauty focus on skincare, what makes F-beauty stand out? For Sunnies Face co-founder Martine Ho, it’s all about inclusivity. “We developed our colors specifically with our Southeast Asian warm skin tones in mind—color ranges that have been underrepresented in beauty for far too long,” she tells Huffington Post.
We all know many Asian brands only cater to lighter skin tones and F-beauty may become the outlier when it comes to answering the needs of Southeast Asians and other ethnicities with darker skin tones. It’s very similar to how Western beauty brands are being called on to make wide shade ranges when releasing foundation. At the same time, most F-beauty skincare are meant for sun protection, oil control, and moisturization for dry skin.
We have listed down several existing local beauty brands, but we’re giving you more as F-beauty rises to the top.
