Ai-Ai Delas Alas said during a press conference for her movie “D’Ninang” that she’s against same-sex marriage. She also admitted that she doesn’t show up to her LGBT friends’ weddings.
In a video posted by YouTube channel Rider PH Studios, Delas Alas said she supports same-sex relationships, just not marriage. “Okay lang sa aking ang magmahalan. Pag-ibig ‘yun eh. Pero ‘di ba nasa Bibliya ‘yun na ang babae para sa lalaki, ang lalaki para sa babae?” (I’m okay with loving someone of the same sex. That is love. But didn’t the Bible state that women are meant for men, men are meant for women?)
Delas Alas continued that she would say yes to her gay friends’ wedding invitations, but she doesn’t attend them. She said, “‘Di ako naniniwala diyan, pero mahal ko kayo kaya eto ang pakimkim.” (I do not believe in it, but I love you that’s why here is your gift.)
If you don’t believe in same-sex marriage, then why are you RSVP-ing to your friends’ weddings only to ditch them?
It’s one thing to not support same-sex marriage, it’s another to give false hope to your LGBT friends. How can you say you love them if you applauded the Supreme Court’s dismissal of a same-sex marriage petition last Jan. 6?
