Podcasts that feel like a regular ladies’ talk

Sometimes it’s hard to find podcasts that tackle women’s concerns. There’s a lot about business and pop culture but there aren’t a lot that are really geared towards addressing women-specific concerns, especially those concerning topics like female sexuality and abortion.

Here’s a list of podcasts hosted by women that talk about what we actually want (and need) to hear:

“The Eve’s Drop”

This local podcast hosted by Delamar Arias, Francesca Tobias and Gelli Victor discusses pop culture, from Sarah G’s life drama to LGBTQ+ matters. There are also some episodes that  cover first date questions and film recommendations.

“Conservative Ako”

The first local podcast on female sexuality and pleasure, “Conservative Ako” is hosted by licensed psychologist and sex and relationships therapist Rica Cruz. She addresses questions regarding the nitty gritties of oral sex and having sex for the first time—topics we wish were discussed more openly in mainstream media.

“Stuff Mom Never Told You”

“Stuff Mom Never Told You” uses research in their discussions on feminism and how gender issues affect our everyday life. Hosts Anney and Samantha talk about what it means to be a woman today, tackling questions like whether or not women should retain their last name after marriage.

“The Broad Experience”

There are so many women who, despite their ambition, have a hard time reaching their full potential when it comes to their careers. “The Broad Experience” tries to tackle this through thoughtful and inspirational discussions while exploring race, cultures and glass ceilings in the workplace.

“Call Your Girlfriend”

To all those long-distance BFFs out there, “Call Your Girlfriend” is a good reminder that you don’t need to be close to stay close. Through an intersectional feminist lens, Animatou Sow and Ann Friedman discuss pop culture, politics and women.

“Another Round”

Brought to you by Buzzfeed’s The Pod Squad, “Another Round” covers cultural issues and conversations with politicians, authors and civil rights activists. Some of their episodes include topics like the #MeToo movement, bigotry and racism.
