Young multi-hyphenates Tavi Gevinson and Margaret Zhang—19 and 21, respectively—are the new faces of Clinique’s social media campaign, #FaceForward.
As young trailblazers themselves who have achieved so much at a very young age, these two global influencers were the obvious choice for this campaign. “Clinique is a brand that believes that anything is possible. With this campaign, we hope to further establish this idea, inspiring women around the word to dream big,” says Melissa Knapp, senior vice president of Clinique Global creative.
Tavi founded her online magazine Rookie while still in high school. “I forget that it is sort of crazy to start a magazine when you’re 15,” she says. Though her test scores suffered she justifies, “It was satisfying for me and [I] ended up helping other people, too.”

For young Australian blogger Margaret of Shine By Three, “Things are no longer formulaic.” While studying law and working in fashion, she believes that “we don’t always have to do what people expect us to.”
So as they front the new crop of young influencers, the two girls have three steps they always use that made then achievers, themselves. For Tavi, it’s “dress for yourself, dream big, and find your voice.” And for Margaret, “see the world, write your own ticket, and picture it first.”
