Last night, actress Sylvia Sanchez revealed that she and husband Art Atayde have tested positive for COVID-19. While they’re still suffering symptoms from the viral disease, Sanchez said they’re “getting better each day.”
“On March 24, my husband and I were brought to Cardinal Santos as I was having chills and he had cough and shortness of breath. We were made to take the [COVID-19] swab test and since then, Art and I have self-isolated. A week later, we finally received the results and we both came out positive for [COVID-19,]” wrote Sanchez on Instagram.
The actress also asked the people they saw prior to the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms like shortness of breath, cough and fever. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), such symptoms may appear two to 14 days after exposure, which is why it’s important to self-quarantine if you traveled to a country with known COVID-19 cases or you were with someone who tested positive.
Although Sanchez and Atayde are still recovering at home, they assured everyone they’ll beat the virus. Ria Atayde also told ABS-CBN News that her parents “seem to be getting better as the days come along. Slowly but they’re getting there.”
Sanchez concluded her IG post with a reminder to stay healthy during the ECQ: “Stay safe, healthy and take your 1,000 mg of vitamin C and 20 mg of zinc daily! Most importantly, stay home to help prevent the spread of the virus.”
