Snowpiercer- Ep 101 8/28/18 ph: Justina Mintz SPS1_101_082818_0555.DNG 410105
If you’re wondering whether or not this series is based on Bong Joon-Ho’s 2014 adaptation of the French graphic novel “Le Transperceneige”—why, yes it is.
If that already got you excited, wait till you hear that he is co-producing the series with Scott Derrickson (“Sinister”), Matthew O’Connor (“Continuum”), and Graeme Manson (“Orphan Black”) who will be the showrunner as well as the executive producer of the show. The series will be starring Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly and Grammy and Tony Award winner Daveed Digs. It’s been a solid four years of waiting since Netflix first announced the series, and in a couple of days we’ll finally get to see it.
The first two episodes will be available on May 23 and the rest will come out every Monday, 3 p.m. Philippine time, starting Jun. 1. Because we were promised a 10-part series, I have yet to decide whether or not I’ll watch each episode as it comes out or wait until all episodes are available and have a 10-hour binge-watch party.
I’ll probably do the latter.
In case you’re not familiar with it, “Snowpiercer” is a movie that envisions a dystopian/capitalist/post-apocalyptic world where the remaining people try to find refuge in a fast-moving train while everything they used to know turns into a frozen wasteland. If you’ve already seen the movie and you’re itching to see the series, the trailer will have to do for now.
