Just this morning, CNN Philippines reported that the top cadet of Philippine Military Academy’s (PMA) class of 2020 is Gemalyn Sugui. Hailing from the province of Isabela, Sugui is the sixth female cadet to lead PMA’s graduating class since the academy started accepting female students back in 1993.

The PMA “Masidlawin” class of 2020 is holding their commencement ceremony this afternoon. Originally an extensive celebration which includes an annual honor parade for retiring officials in service, this year’s graduation rites have been closed off to the public including the cadets’ family and friends. If you’re wondering how their loved ones can watch them march in Fort Del Pilar’s Borromeo Field, there’s a livestream on the Philippine Military Academy “Face-Bok” Facebook page.
Apart from leading her class, Sugui will also be awarded the Presidential Saber, the Achievement Award for Academic Excellence, the JUSMAG Award, the Philippine Army Saber, the Spanish Armed Forces Award, the Social Sciences Plaque, the Management Plaque, and the Rule of Law Award.
