If you’re still on a high from the solo releases of Mamamoo, then don’t expect to come down any sooner. Their youngest member, Hwasa, is coming back with her first mini-album on June 29.
The first teaser for “Maria,” which is Hwasa’s baptismal name, dropped last night and has had fans talking about it since. Hwasa’s intense gaze matched with a snake that may or may not be right on her face has raised expectations about the sound and concept of the upcoming album.

“Maria” is not the K-Pop “it girl’s” first solo venture. Hwasa released “Twit” last year to thunderous praise and acclaim, breezing through several music show wins as well as a Song of the Year award at Gaon Music Chart Awards.
Her bandmates, Moonbyul and Solar, have also released solo projects earlier this year. Both of them are in the Top 3 of best-selling female soloists for 2020, so we’re really expecting a lot from Hwasa’s first mini-album. Knowing Hwasa from her music and award show performances (who can ever forget her stunning turn at the 2018 MAMA Awards that made everyone wish they could rock a red bodysuit?), we’re sure she won’t disappoint.
