Heads up: Black Sheep’s first BL series directed by Petersen Vargas of “2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten” fame is finally out, with its first episode already released on the studio’s YouTube channel.
Starring Tony Labrusca and JC Alcantara, “Hello Stranger” is a quarantine dream, taking place within a series of video conferences, standalone shots of Alcantara semi-stalking his new crush on Instagram and screen captures of his Facebook timeline where he posts dramatic yet vague statuses about his crush (truly the gay experience). Judging from the intro, it looks like it’ll follow the highs and lows of a two-month quaranfling, so get ready to feel™.
The plot of the first episode involves the kinda nerdy Mico, played by Alcantara, and his freshman barkada’s online quiz night going wrong when Labrusca, playing the school’s MVP heartthrob Xavier, crashes in and disrupts the group. Cut to a day(?) later, and Mico’s teacher FaceTimes him to tell that he’s been assigned a new partner for his school project (“everyone’s having a hard time with this pandemic […] magtulungan tayo,” she tells him when he protests) and the new partner is no other than—well, you’ll have to watch the show to find out.
No spoilers here, but the first episode ends with possibly the best ever outcome you can get from accidentally liking a crush’s old IG post. May everyone else be so lucky.
