Hey WLW, we have a new GL series to look forward to

The rise of Filipino Boy’s Love (BL) stories is exciting for the Filipino LGBTQ+ community. “Hello Stranger,” the digital series featuring Tony Labrusca and JC Alcantara premiered last June 24 and currently has more than one million views. Globe Studios is also working with writer Juan Miguel Severo on developing “Gaya Sa Pelikula,” a romcom BL that aims to represent the gay experience as authentically as possible.

Gameboys,” a BL series by The IdeaFirstCompany, the film production house behind “Die Beautfiul” and “The Panti Sisters,” is also a current favorite. It tells the story of Cai and Gav who meet and form a friendship through an online game. It’s been streaming since May 22 and has attracted both local and international fans. With its successful run, the producers behind the show are looking to produce another series—but this time for the lesbians.

The new series, entitled “Pearl Next Door,” will star Adrianna So as the titular Pearl, who also appeared in “Gameboys” as Gav’s sassy and skeptical friend who is wary of his encounters. The series was announced last June 19 but it was only yesterday when Adrianna confirmed that “Pearl Next Door” is actually going to be a Girls’ Love (GL) story.

We still have no details yet on when the premiere date is or who will play Pearl’s love interest, but we’re keeping tabs on this GL, God knows us gay girls need it.
