Remember when Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz went on Instagram for a live reunion back in April only to find out it was scripted? Yeah, we feel your disappointment. Besides crushing our Popoy x Basha dreams, it let us have a glimpse of the direction filmmaking is taking under quarantine. If you’re a filmmaker with little resources, Quarancine is the perfect film festival for you to join.

Open to all Filipino citizens, regardless of age, gender and location, Oncue Media Inc.’s Quarancine is a mobile film-making competition for short films produced during quarantine. Keep in mind that participants must adhere to quarantine protocols. Still not done shooting your entry? No worries. The competition period is from July 1 to July 31 (at 11:59 p.m.). You can e-register and accomplish an entry form on their website.

An entry must include the film’s title, genre, a 250-word story synopsis and a list of names of the talents and crew involved in all three production stages.

All entries must be classified as G (General) and must follow competition guidelines:

  1. Storyline must explore with the theme ‘life in quarantine’ and must be an original concept and story that is unpublished and not posted nor streamed on any digital or print platform.
  2. Storyline derivation from fictional or non-fictional protected property/ies will not be accepted. Any copyright infringement is a basis for disqualification.
  3. Entry should be shot using a mobile phone.
  4. Entry should be in HD file (MP4 format) and must have a minimum resolution of 720p. This could be in either landscape or portrait orientation.
  5. Running time of the entry is between five (5) to ten (10) minutes.
  6. Opening and/or closing credits is optional.
  7. Dialogues should only be in Filipino and English. Should there will be languages aside from Filipino and English, subtitles must be provided.
  8. Entry must be submitted through a Google drive link to be shared in the online registration form.

The films will be screened from Aug. 3 to Aug. 7 by a panel composed of local and international film industry professionals. They will be handpicking 10 finalists which will compete for a grand prize worth P30,000 and be given a slot at the International Film Festival of Manhattan- NYC.

Think you have a shot at winning? Sign up now before it’s too late.
