The newest installment to the BTS Universe (think the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with the Bangtan Boys instead of caped crusaders, so better), BTS Universe Story, has just been released, and we’re already hitting download on our phones.
As we’ve previously written, it’s a storytelling game where the players create different storylines involving the boys from the K-pop group, all set within the fictional universe. According to Billboard, it “has a ‘Story Creation’ mode, where users can create their own story using in-game production tools, plus ‘Story Playthrough’ mode that lets players select choices in pre-existing stories. ‘Collection’ mode gives players the ability to collect clothes and accessories to style the characters in the BTS Universe, plus the option to capture AR photos with their customized characters.”
The new trailer announcing the drop of the game shows more of the gameplay, and it looks pretty fun. If you’ve ever been on Episode or Choices, it’s a little bit like that, especially the former since you can read stories made by other users, except the app seems to give the players more freedom to fiddle around.
The app was made in collaboration with Netmarble, a South Korean mobile game developer. They previously worked with the boys on BTS World, and they’ve made other game collaborations such as Marvel: Future Fight (betcha didn’t think Marvel was going to show up again here) and The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross.
A little more on BTS Universe: Initially called the “The Most Beautiful Moment In Life” or “Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa” series, the universe is an alternate reality made up of music videos and films by the group and their entertainment company Big Hit Entertainment. Aside from the new game, it’s also spawned a webtoon and multiple books. In the works are a drama called “Blue Sky” and possibly an animated feature and something that’s been described as a “3D CG movie.”
The game is on both the App Store and Google Play.
