Ha.Mu and Tropik Beatnik’s collab is like something out of a cartoon—in the best way

Two local labels known for their unusual, larger-than-life pieces have teamed up, and boy do we love to see it. Ha.Mu, the fashion brand by designer pair Abraham Guardian and Mamuro Oki known for their signature egg design, is putting out a collaboration with wearable art shop Tropik Beatnik.

What does a collab between two over-the-top brands look like? Lots of chunky accessories with unusual silhouettes and bright, bright colors. They’re not unlike something you’d see a character from a Saturday morning cartoon would wear, and I mean that in the best way.

Carla Cruz, Tropik Beatnik creator, says, “Between Tropik Beatnik’s colorful mixed media pieces and Ha.Mu’s quirky and larger-than-life style, I knew this was a match made in heaven.”

Incidentally, this collab is Ha.Mu’s first accessory collection. “I have always been a fan of statement earrings (that is also the main reason why I got my ears pierced back in college hehe sorry mom and dad!) and both Mamu and I would have conversations about how Ha.Mu’s accessories look like if ever given the chance. Fast forward to the pandemic period of 2020. We were figuring out how and what we could be doing for our brand when I suddenly suggested to Mamu that we can try reaching out to Tropik Beatnik for a collection. We had our first meeting at the end of the month shortly after and boom!!! The birth of our collaboration,” Guardian says in a press release.

“Our inspiration behind this collection was our take on being playful adults. We wanted to create quirky and statement pieces that you can easily mix and match in ways you can only imagine. We wanted to also incorporate our idea of fun onto accessories that can help complete and also change the vibe of your entire look,” the press release also states.

Cruz also adds, “With the collection’s unconventional take on your usual accessories, each piece is a personality all on its own. From chunky pearl necklaces with neon clay beads, bead speckled eggs, to oh-so-yummy rings reminiscent of cupcakes and candy, the pieces from this collection scream color and fun, and are designed to be mixed and matched, and just to be played around with!”

The collab’s officially going to be released on Dec. 9, and we can’t wait.
