Between intense stares and subtle gestures, waves of emotion and restriction resonate through the first official trailer for the movie Carol.
The story between two lesbian lovers set in the 1950s played by Cate Blanchett (who takes on the title role) and Rooney Mara has been the stuff of speculation and intrigue since the announcement of its development. And now the trailer is starting to create some Oscar buzz.
Styled impeccably in the tailored world of coats and old world charm, Rooney and Cate seem to have just enough chemistry between them to re-create the tension of forbidden love in the trailer. There is minimal dialogue featured in the trailer and much of the scenes play out to a very chilling rendition of “My Foolish Heart.”
The film will premiere at the British Film Institute London Festival on Oct. 14. On the other hand, the movie is only set for limited release in the United States starting Nov. 20. No reports on whether it will be shown here in the Philippines have been confirmed as of press time.
