Before today, I never would have believed you if you said that we’ll get to see Elliot Page showing off his abs poolside. You can imagine my utter surprise and delight when I saw Page’s summer-ready Instagram life update.

The “Umbrella Academy” star posted a photo of himself sporting red swim trunks and the biggest smile. “Trans bb’s first swim trunks,” he wrote in the caption. He even added the hashtags #transjoy and #transisbeautiful. I don’t know about you but I’ve never felt this emotional while staring at a hot guy’s photo. I can’t help but share the happiness he radiates.

Although Page had revealed that he underwent top surgery in an interview with Oprah Winfrey which aired back in April, this is the first shirtless photo that he has shared after the procedure which involves removal of breast tissue.

Page told Winfrey that getting the surgery was “a freeing experience” and that things like wearing a T-shirt, having a towel around his waist after a shower or touching his chest made him feel comfortable in his body for the first time.

He added that the experience gave him newfound energy and he realized that he hasn’t gotten to be himself since he was 10 years old. “From where I’m sitting now, all I know is the degree of comfort, sense of home, ability to be present, feels so profound and life-changing. And so what I look forward to is getting to move through the world in that way,” he said.

It’s so inspiring to see a trans sibling owning their body. It also serves as a reminder that trans rights are human rights. We’re fighting for trans rights so that our trans siblings can live their truth.
