From Smizing to OOTDs, 6 Pets of Instagram Teach You to Be Selfie-Ready

Have you mastered the art of taking selfies like a celebrity yet? If you have, then good job! You’re all fabulous in our book. But if you think it’s still too much of a long shot for you to up your selfie game with our celebrity examples because you don’t have Anne Curtis levels of confidence yet, then maybe you need something that’s less intimidating for you—like adorable and equally stylish pets.

Whether you’re a dog or cat lover, these six furry creatures from Instagram can show you how to work the camera during selfie situations. I mean how can you not be inspired by these cuties?!

Me every morning 💤

#1 “I woke up like dis”
We’re all guilty of taking several selfies in bed to flaunt our #nomakeup faces (the real, honest no-makeup look, okay) in the morning before getting up for work. While some of us are not comfortable with showing our au naturel selves on social media, here’s a tip from Mr. White, also known as Coffee Cat: glare at the camera as if you’re piercing through the lens and sending a message to everyone that you’re going to have a badass day even if you’re sleepy as hell.

#2 Mastering the ‘smize’
And speaking of piercing through the camera. In case you don’t know what ‘smize’ means, it’s a term coined by model Tyra Banks which means ‘smiling with your eyes.’ Richard the Cat does it flawlessly with his two-colored eyes, and indeed, it does add fierceness points once you strike the perfect balance of squinting and conveying (fierce) emotion.

Biiiiiig up to @WaggedWear who make & sell dog bandanas like this #holwoween one to feed needy dogs🙌🏾

#3 Messy hair don’t care
Whether you’re too lazy to brush your hair, or the forces of nature wreaked havoc onto it, that shouldn’t stop you from flashing a huge smile like Barkley the Pomeranian to distract from the craziness on your head.

#4 Feeling like a cover model
Outfit shots are a must when you’re going to an event, traveling to a different country, or when you just want to show your social media followers what you wore during the day. Menswear Dog shows you how to work your #ootd while smizing at the camera. Look at that gray scarf and that sweater! Flawless, isn’t it? And don’t worry, you don’t have to thank any sponsors.

#5 When you’re bored or missing someone
You’re alone at home, and you want to show your friends and/or your significant other how bored you are with hopes of them saving you from your misery. (And no, it doesn’t involve stripping naked.) Lying down and placing the camera at an appealing angle will do the trick, even throwing on a colorful hat and making eyes at the cam so you’ll look both bored and cute just like Snoopy Babe the cat.

Happy weekend, motherpuppers!! Stay warm and toasty, friends! #LikeALoaf 🍞 #KeepItLoafy #RalphandGeorge

#6 When you’re finally hanging out with someone
Of course, selfies aren’t complete without a significant other and/or a friend to accompany you in a photo (if they’ve already saved you from boredom that is). Remember to smile or look goofy with them like Ralph the Corgi and his friend did in that photo so you can look back and remember how embarrassing both of you looked while taking a selfie in the middle of a busy street.
