After watching the wedding highlights video of Pauleen Luna, 27, and Vic Sotto, 61, which was released last Monday, it’s difficult to be cynical about the newlyweds, despite their brow-raising age gap.
And after five years of being criticized by the industry they work in (who could forget that Pauleen was a contestant on Eat Bulaga’s “Little Miss Philippines” children’s pageant, which Vic hosted?), society, friends, and family, the couple is flipping off everyone who had doubts about their relationship as they jet to the Maldives today.
While reading their vows aloud, Pauleen told Vic, “Our story is not ideal. And a lot of people did not understand us, didn’t understand the kind of love that we have—a love that’s so genuine, it was just unbreakable.”
Vic, on the other hand, in less eloquent terms said: “Sanay lang ako sa mga jowa lang. Mga syotitay, mga fling. Pero masarap pala sabihin yung asawa ko.” (I was used to having a girlfriend and flings. But it feels good to say ‘my wife.’)
The couple haven’t revealed how long they’ll be away on their honeymoon, but given their date of departure’s proximity to Valentine’s Day, we wouldn’t be surprised if they spent the day of hearts there.
Just remember: If you two conceive on V-Day, please don’t name your child Heart or Love. A certain actress-painter already has the market cornered on Valentines-related monikers.
