After getting much recognition for Ma’Rosa at Cannes, director Brillante Mendoza is faced with another challenging job—being in charge of the video presentations for President Rodrigo Duterte’s first SONA on July 27.
When asked on what direction he’ll take, he says it’ll be raw and frill-free. “We want to make it very real, very sincere. The essence is to communicate with the people. So there is no embellishment, very straight to the point,” he says.
Brillante was offered the job by communications secretary Martin Andanar just last week. Maybe they were impressed by how the director portrayed the drug situation in Manila. And we all know how passionate our President is when it comes to the matter.
