Rose gold has gone from a favorite iPhone color to becoming a hair trend this season.
Although it’s quite unconventional to see this color being worn everywhere, it is a welcome change from the sea of brunettes and different shades of blonde. Just last week, Kylie Jenner put this shade on everyone’s radar when she revealed her newest hair color.
Officially called rose quartz (which was also named Pantone color of the year), Kylie’s hair color was done by using light and mild rose-hued toners on her then silver hair. “Because she was platinum, she can go any color from there. Originally, she was flirting with other colors, but we showed her the rose-gold shade and instantly that was it. We liked that idea because no one else is doing that right now,” hairstylist Priscilla Valles tells E! News. The result is a light blonde with a washed-out pink color effect.
Some might find this color too light and might want something more subtle. As Refinery29 would enumerate, there seem to be different variations of rose gold―from light pink highlights to a dark strawberry blonde. An example of a subtle rose gold finish is Ashley Tisdale’s hair last May which was also done by Priscilla.

As for the darker option, you can take cues from Emma Roberts’ desert rose locks which is more on the copper-gold side.
Blogger Camille Co is also sporting a similar copper shade which diffuses well with the different shades of blue and purple. Her hair also appears rose gold in some of her photos.

If you’ve been looking for a new hair color to try that’s not your usual, just choose which shade works best for you from our examples above. You can also experiment by getting it colored and just wait for it to fade back to blonde after a few weeks. But if you do plan on keeping it, you better stock up on color-safe shampoos.
