5 Things From New York Fashion Week That Made Us Feel FOMO

For the past couple of days, we have seen people taking over New York. Influencers, celebrities, models, and designers alike seemed to be having a ball at New York Fashion Week. I’m sure you’ve seen photos from the shows and even videos of parties. One thing’s for sure, NYFW is more than just the clothes on the runway. Aside from the collection being shown, designers try to make the experience memorable by planning a whole production to go along with it. From stunt men on motorcycles to surprise music performances, here are some highlights from NYFW Spring 2018. Let us know what your favorite is.

Future and Teyana Taylor rocking the stage

Teyana Taylor walked at a few shows this season from GCDS to The Blonds. But her most talked about appearance was at the Philipp Plein show. Dita Von Teese opened Philipp’s presentation with a burlesque performance. What followed was a show by Future wherein Teyana closed the runway. She didn’t just strut her stuff but she danced like one was watching.

Leslie Jones sitting front row

If I were a model or fashion designer, I would love to have Leslie Jones sitting front row at all my shows. While attending Christian Siriano’s runway show, Leslie showed her enthusiasm by cheering on Coco Rocha as she modeled a stunning black gown.

Riding dirty with Fenty

After releasing 40 foundation shades for the launch of her beauty line, there is nothing Rihanna can’t do. So it comes as no surprise that she went all out for the Fenty x Puma fashion show. Aside from the models walking down the runway, there were also stunt people on dirt bikes flipping through the air. Riri also rode on the back of a motorcycle after the last look.

Ralph Lauren’s car collection

Why settle for a plain runway backdrop when you have a garage full of luxury cars? For Ralph Lauren’s show, he invited guests to his garage in upstate Bedford. The garage of course was more like a showroom than a parking space. With Porsches, Ferraris, Jaguras, and a Buggati lined up, the models strutted around them.

Surprise performance by Solange

The music played at fashion shows help set the mood of the collection. What better way to introduce your collection than by having Solange sing live in the background? She made a special appearance at the Maryan Nassir Zadeh show and was accompanied by a cellist, trombonist, and guitarist.

Sibling love

We’ve all seen videos on the Internet of wardrobe mishaps that happen on the runway. The most common being models losing their balance. This happens to seasoned models too like Gigi Hadid. As she closed the show for Anna Sui, the strap of one of her shoes came loose and eventually came off. Gigi, however, didn’t miss a beat and walked with confidence. Don’t worry, Bella came to help as the models made their final walk down the runway.
