Is there a memo we missed? Are barrettes the lowkey hair accessory we’ve been missing out on season after season? You would think this hair piece would be a relic in your childhood days, but it turns out they may not even be making a comeback. They never left and they evolved according to our needs.
Hear us out. In the latest runway show of Simone Rocha, you’ll see these feature prominently on the models. They serve as decoration apart from keeping your hair parted.
Last year, Rodarte made a case with gold embellishments and floral patterns.
Emily Blunt was also spotted wearing them during the premier of The Girl On the Train.
Soon after, Bella Hadid debuted her Clueless blowout with metal barrettes.
Rihanna was also on it for a time, with outright bright red floral plastic pairs that scream ’90s.
You also might have spotted them on Tavi Gevinson and Alexa Chung as they also sported them once in a while.
Remember, the old Taylor? She loved her barrettes before snakes.
Kirsten Dunst was also a fan of the barrette before, even sporting one during a Bvlgari event. (Who says these hair accessories can’t be fancy?)
So do you see what we mean about barrettes being around? And with their runway focus, maybe it’s going to make a comeback in a big way and not just as an incidental piece. Man Repeller sums up what makes them so reliable, “On the one hand, they have single-clippedly created the illusion that I look ten years my junior.” Given this, would you be shopping around for barrettes soon?
