If you follow Lauren Reid on Instagram, you would have seen her document her recent trip to Japan. She went with her friends, including brother James Reid and his girlfriend Nadine Lustre. They spent Halloween in Tokyo and traveled to different temples Kyoto. While visiting Osaka, she started to caption her photos with haikus.

A short literature lesson to refresh your memory about haikus. According to the dictionary, a haiku is “an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively.” Read Lauren’s haikus below and get some inspiration for your own.

Dedicate it to a loved one

A haiku: Brother my brother Your heart and your mind divine Let’s drink wine, chinpai ?

A post shared by Lauren Reid (@laurenreidabook) on Nov 2, 2017 at 5:50pm PDT

Brother my brother
Your heart and your mind divine
Let’s drink wine, chinpai

The first haiku Lauren wrote was about her brother James. Posing in Osaka, she suggested they grab some wine.

Write about your adventures

A haiku: Third wheel in motion Around the world together Again and always ??

A post shared by Lauren Reid (@laurenreidabook) on Nov 2, 2017 at 9:53pm PDT

Third wheel in motion
Around the world together
Again and always

Lauren also expressed her adventures as a third wheel. In a photo with James and Nadine, she wrote how they’re traveling the world again and always will be. (Aww)

Have your friends join in

A haiku: Fushimi Kyoto Squad lit we flaming fire Boomerang, we fly ☁️

A post shared by Lauren Reid (@laurenreidabook) on Nov 3, 2017 at 1:29am PDT

Fushimi Kyoto
Squad lit we flaming fire
Boomerang, we fly

Since they traveled with a group of friends, Lauren mentioned her squad in this haiku. The post was a Boomerang of the group in Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto.

Go back to your memories

A haiku: A familiar street Friends meet for the beat, that beat So sweet, Down we went ??

A post shared by Lauren Reid (@laurenreidabook) on Nov 4, 2017 at 9:43pm PDT

A familiar street
Friends meet for the beat, that beat
So sweet, Down we went

Lauren also looked back at memories as she was in a familiar place. She also mentioned meeting up with her friends in Osaka.

Shoutout your best friend

A haiku: My friend! Hoy bes pren! Ikaw ay fun sa fun, naks Bumalik tayo (ha)! ?

A post shared by Lauren Reid (@laurenreidabook) on Nov 4, 2017 at 11:38pm PDT

My friend! Hoy bes pren!
Ikaw ay fun sa fun, naks
Bumalik tayo (ha)!

Show some love to your best friend like Lauren did in this haiku. She shared her excitement and even gave him compliment, also suggesting that they should visit Shinjuku again.

Channel how you feel

A haiku: Not ready to go Missing you already so With you soon again ??

A post shared by Lauren Reid (@laurenreidabook) on Nov 6, 2017 at 12:30am PST

Not ready to go
Missing you already so
With you soon again

Lauren showed some emotion when it was time to leave Japan. She clearly wasn’t ready to go and will definitely be back soon.

Talk about your dreams

A haiku: Tulog na friend ko Dream dreams muna tayo ha Malapit na friend ?

A post shared by Lauren Reid (@laurenreidabook) on Nov 6, 2017 at 1:08am PST

Tulog na friend ko
Dream dreams muna tayo ha
Malapit na friend

Even in her sleep, Lauren was dreaming of haikus.
