Lately, I’ve come to appreciate blushes once more. Skipping out on contour and highlight, blushes feel much easier to do and a bit more versatile. At the office, I use it to give life to my face as I often go for a nude lipstick. At night, the right shade can match your lipstick so you can look at bit more put together.
Shimmery blushes are best if you’re feeling the same way. I find that they give that subtle glow that we try to achieve with highlighters but sans the commitment to show off the cheekbones. It just looks healthy and effortless. A fine shimmer is also best when you can’t handle chunky glitters in your blush but aren’t too keen on looking flat with matte formulations. Scroll down the list below for a few shimmery blushes you can try for your next look.
Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’Oro
I like this Milani blush because it’s not too pigmented. So you can breathe easy if your rushed morning routine comes with a heavy hand. It’s almost impossible to make a mistake. The best thing is how the blush gives that perfect subtle blush fit for a morning affair. Available via Calyxta.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush
This satin-shimmer formula works great if you want to wear blush without emphasizing the pores. It gives them a bit of a hydrated look. Similar to a lot of Hourglass formulations, the powder is finely-milled so it’s not patchy as you build up the color. Available via SephoraPH.
Benefit Box O’ Powder in Galifornia
If you want to fake a blush from a sun-kissed look, go for this one. It blends a soft pink color with a shimmering gold. This makes it look good on medium skin tones especially if you feel a bit ambivalent about putting a classic pink to your cheeks. Available at Greenbelt 5.
NARS Blush in Blissful
For a statement blush to match with a dark lip, try Blissful. It’s a medium plum with flecks of gold. The color is opaque so be sure to blend it in well to your skin before heading out for dinner drinks. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source, Glorietta 4.
Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish and Pop Blusher in Love Glow
Despite its powder formulation, this blush has a cream-like finish that’s good if you feel that the usual powder ones don’t sit well on your skin. It’s made with Light Flex Technology to give a luminous effect. You can also customize the color to your liking if you wish to just swish your brush in the outer color or blend in with the center shade. Available online.
