Following the controversy surrounding Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s “kiss” video, many have defended his actions. Spokesperson Harry Roque said it’s accepted in Filipino culture, and Sen. Win Gatchalian likened it to actors kissing in movies—both aren’t valid arguments. Another defense came from PCOO Asec. Mocha Uson who dragged the late Sen. Ninoy Aquino into the picture, and Kris Aquino did not take this well.
Mocha posted a short clip showing side by a short clips of Duterte kissing the OFW in Seoul. The video flashed the question, “Masagwa daw ito?” (This is malicious?) It then cuts to a clip of two women kissing Aquino on the cheek, minutes before he was shot at the tarmac, followed by the question, “Pero ito hindi?” (But this one isn’t?)
Kris responded with her own video compilation of all the times Mocha criticized their family, along with a lengthy post on Instagram. “Asec Mocha Uson—marami akong pinalagpas. Binalahura mo na ang buong pagkatao ng pamilya namin… [Nung] napanuod ko yung inupload mo para depensahan si presidente Duterte (na ni minsan hindi ko pinakitaan nang hindi maganda) alam mo ba kung ano ang ginawa mo? Sinariwa mo ang sugat sa puso ng isang batang 12 years old nung pinaslang ng walang kalaban laban ang kanyang ama.” (Asec. Mocha Uson—I ignored many things. You’ve disrespected every aspect of our family… When I watched the video you uploaded that was meant to defend Pres. Duterte (whom I’ve never shown disrespect to), do you know what you did? You opened a fresh wound of a 12-year-old child’s heart when her father was mercilessly murdered.)
She added, “Umiyak ako nang tuloy tuloy dahil NAINGGIT ako sa 2 babaeng nakahalik sa Dad ko bago siya pinatay. Isang regalong hindi binigay sa nanay ko na walang tigil mo ring binabastos.” (I cried nonstop because I envied the two women who got to kiss my dad before he was killed. That’s a gift that wasn’t given to my mom, who you have incessantly disrespected as well.)
Kris emphasized that Mocha “crossed the line” for what she did. Kris also said to direct the anger and frustrations to her and not her family members, most especially those who have passed away. “Kung may gusto kang punching bag, please ako na lang. Kasi buhay ako, kaya kitang sagutin. At hindi kita uurungan.” (If you want a punching bag, please just use me. Because I’m alive, I can answer you. And I won’t back down from you.)
And you know Kris Aquino, she won’t let anyone talk smack about her family. Most especially if it’s uncalled for.
