So here’s the thing. When you’re in college, you really just want it to be over. You get through all the sleepless nights by assuring yourself it will eventually end. You promise yourself, once you get your hands on the diploma, you are so out of there. College is a trying time for everyone; a great, wild mix of drama, friendship, discovery of ideals, first serious relationship; first everything.
College days may not be your favorite time; you may even resent it. Understandably. Still there are times you can’t help but look back with graduation goggles. There are just some things you can’t help but miss about that weird and challenging time in your life. Here are some of mine:
Allowance
Earning for yourself really changes the way you handle your finances. Suddenly all the smallest expenses matter. And it makes you cry, thinking about how easy you used to have it.
College diet
If, like me, you stayed at a dorm or rented, then you understand what it’s like to survive on a weird, admittedly unhealthy diet. Of course during that time, you long for home-cooked meals, but oddly, these days I miss the cup noodles. And my metabolism.
Class suspensions
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of confirming that sweet, sweet news, especially when you’ve got an exam you didn’t actually prepare for.
Study nights
While it’s not good to romanticize those stressful nights, I can’t help but feel nostalgic sometimes. They’re tough, but they definitely helped build my character.
Flexible Schedule
It’s funny how, in college, you think the days are too hectic and busy when you only have time to meet your friends once a week. Heck, now, I honestly can’t remember when I last hung out with them. But that’s adulting, I guess.
