Raise your hand if you’re all hyped up for the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show! We definitely are, because this year, our girl Kelsey Merritt will officially walk the VS runway, making her the first Filipina to do so. Here’s something else to hype you up further: A quick Q and A sesh with Kelsey, as part of the brand’s efforts to introduce this year’s models to the world. Read on to discover things you probably don’t know about your new fave VS model.
Do you have any special talents/ skills?
I can pick stuff with my feet. I feel like that’s a very Filipino thing to do. [Laughs]
Are you binge-ing on any TV shows?
Yes, I just finished The Handmaid’s Tale. Its a really disturbing show but really made well and I was absolutely hooked on it.
What’s your favorite TV show?
My fave TV show of all time is Game of Thrones and I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s gonna agree that it is one of the best shows out there.
If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Green mangoes from the Philippines. Love them so much. I have [several] of them [whenever] I go home. They’re absolutely the best.
If you could have lunch with anyone who would it be?
Maybe Audrey Hepburn. I just, I love her style, what she represents, and everything about her. I would love to have a conversation with her.
Do you collect anything?
When I travel, I do collect magnets to put [on] my fridge.
Who would you like to follow you the most?
Naomi Campbell. She’s just such an icon and I love her as a model. I look up to her, and if she were to follow me, i just wouldn’t believe it. It would be unreal. I would be dreaming.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
When you’re walking in New York and you’re walking straight, and the person in front of you is walking zigzag and you just can’t get ahead of them. Its just like, “Just choose a lane so i can walk past you and not circle around you!” [Laughs]
Do you have any advice for aspiring models?
Dream big, and dream hard, and work hard. And don’t stop pushing yourself to your limits. Don’t look at other’s success, and don’t worry about others. Don’t compare yourself to others. Just focus on yourself and you’ll go far.
