Somebody tell Bill Cosby’s publicist that the jail sentence wasn’t racist nor sexist

Bill Cosby has officially been put behind bars for sexual assault and will serve three to 10 years, without bail, under Pennsylvania law. His defense team also tried to negotiate a house arrest, partial confinement, and a chance to serve his time at a county jail and not state prison—but all of those were rejected by judge Steven T. O’Neill.

While we celebrate the sight of him in cuffs and taking his mugshots, his publicist Andrew Wyatt wasn’t too happy. He seemed so upset that he called the trial “racist and sexist.” He also compared the outcome to Jesus Christ getting persecuted, and later executed.

Excuse me, Mr. Wyatt? You think “white women who make off of accusing black men of being sexual predators” is what put Bill in jail? 35 women came forward with harrowing stories wherein the actor drugged them with Quaaludes and raped them while they were unconscious. Jewel Allison herself said she was scared to come forward because of the burden of being called a racist.

This isn’t a case of racism. Bill Cosby, who just happened to be black, admitted that he acquired drugs to have sex with women; that he didn’t stop even when he was told to. Plus, if we’re going to talk about sexism, just look at how he preyed on these women and took advantage of their weaknesses so he could have his sick fun. That statement above alone is sexist because it’s blatant victim-blaming.

As far as we know, Jesus Christ didn’t touch any women non-consensually, much less assault. Comparing your client to the Bible Messiah is quite a reach.

Hey, being a publicist does entail you to save your client’s face in any adversity. But it is disrespectful to discredit the experiences of the victims and calling them racist, sexist, and money hungry.

Meanwhile, we’re just going to sit here and applaud the strong women who didn’t back down from this years-long battle against Bill. Justice has been served!
