How does ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ fit in the Marvel cinematic universe

Aside from Captain Marvel, we have another superhero film to look forward to: Spider-Man: Far From Home. Last night, the first teaser trailer was released, and here’s what we know so far. It is going start out like a teen movie where Peter Parker and his friends go on a class trip to Europe. Everything changes when Nick Fury drops in on Peter with “a job to do.” That task? To go against Mysterio played by Jake Gyllenhaal.

After watching the trailer, you might be thinking, how does this fit into the Marvel cinematic universe? Wired has a few theories. One, it takes place in an alternate timeline after Avengers: Infinity War. Two, this is an origin story so the events happen before everything went south. However, they did point out that Spider-Man: Far From Home is premiering after Endgame and head of Sony studio Amy Pascal mentioned that it “will pick up minutes” after Endgame. With that being said, it is also possible that this film is set after the next Avengers movie. Also, Tony Stark isn’t in the trailer, and Robert Downey Jr.’s contract reportedly finishes with Endgame. We’ll have to wait for July 5 to get all the answers.
