The Carters, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, couldn’t be at the BRIT Awards to receive their award for Best International Group, but they definitely made up for it with an epic video.
The short clip showed the two accepting the award in a setting reminiscent of their iconic “Apesh*t” music video filmed at the Louvre. Particularly, the iconic shot of the couple standing in front of the Mona Lisa. But in the clip, the famous French artwork was replaced by what looks like a painting of the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle in a crown, pearl necklace, and off-the-shoulder gown.
“Thank you so much to the BRIT Awards for this incredible honor,” Bey says while holding the trophy in front of the Meghan Markle portrait. “You guys have always been so supportive. Everything is love. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Jay-Z jokes back.
Though the pair didn’t mention Meghan in the clip, it was a clear shoutout to the duchess. In an Instagram post, Bey posted the photo and wrote: “In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.”
Since Meghan is in New York for her baby shower, do you think it’s at all possible the three American royalties are going to meet, perhaps to discuss that beautiful painting of Meghan over tea? Hmm.
