Actor Luke Perry, best known for his roles as Fred Andrews and Dylan McKay on TV shows Riverdale, and Beverly Hills, 90210, respectively, passed away at the age of 52 after suffering a massive stroke, according to a statement released by a representative of the actor.
“He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends,” the statement read. “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world and respectfully requests privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”
The star was reportedly taken to a hospital last week after suffering a stroke at home. Messages of support and well wishes for his recovery from colleagues and fans were replaced by posts expressing shock and condolences after news of his death broke.
His Riverdale family were among those who paid tribute to him with loving posts.

Dearest Luke,
I will forever bask in the loving memories we've shared over the last thirty years. May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here, for those you leave behind.— Ian Ziering (@IanZiering) March 4, 2019
