Raise your hand if you already have your summer trip itinerary ready for the next few months. If you haven’t done this, why? Just kidding. I don’t have my vacation life together yet either.
Having fun in the sun doesn’t necessarily mean going to the beach—though a lot of people will surely be going. Some are also eyeing other spots for their upcoming trips, too. For this edition of Preen Picks, let us share with you what’s on our colleagues’ travel wish lists.
Surfing at Siargao
“Sure, Siargao is popular at the moment, but I think I’d like to go alone, or with two to three friends who are game for anything, even camping under the stars. Surfing is definitely the main reason to go. Next to that is the idea of a rustic but comfortable stay on an island.” — Javier Lobregat, photographer and videographer
Reunion trip to Zambales
“My college friends and I are planning to go to Liwliwa Beach at San Felipe, Zambales this summer. It’s like our annual trip that started four years ago with only six friends—now we’re 11. It’s a special place because we’ve been visiting the beach privately before the residents started to commercialize it.” — Joey Liza Simbulan, junior designer
Planting a tree at Guimaras
“My plan this summer is to visit Guimaras. I want to go on a food trip and try their local delicacy, visit a nearby beach and work on my tan, and also plant a mango seedling.” — Nimu Muallam, creative director
A spa trip in Antipolo
“I’d like to visit Luljetta’s hanging gardens in Antipolo again. I’m not much of a beach girl, but I do like spas surrounded by nature. You can actually see the cityscape horizon from the inifinity pool. They also serve good turon.” — Bianca Pilar, junior designer
Food-tripping at Japan
“I don’t have any plans for this summer. But I do want to travel to Japan someday—either alone or with a companion—for a future vacation. I’m just so in love with the culture, food (I want to find all the low-key restaurants!), and the spots I’ve seen on the Internet and the shows I’ve binge-watched. Fingers crossed that I get the opportunity to do this someday!” — Jacqueline Arias, junior content creator, Preen.ph

Exploring the streets of Taipei
“While everyone prefers getting a tan on the beach, I honestly prefer tanning while exploring a new city or country. Other than the fact that I have never been to Taipei, I also cling onto the reason that people say you can be whoever you want to be when you’re in another country just because nobody really knows who you are.” — Kyle Cayabyab, accounts executive
