Retirement is the last thing on Naomi Campbell’s mind

Naomi Campbell is already a bonafide legend in the modeling industry, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to retire anytime soon. On Instagram, she posted a photo of her by Steven Meisel, accompanied by a long caption to honor a special day in her career. “They said I would only last 11 years, but here I am today celebrating 33 years in the business of fashion!” she wrote. “I never thought that there would be a day when I would even convey such a message on social media!”

She went on to reveal that she’s not thinking of leaving the industry yet, and for a good reason. “My friends are always telling me to slow down and rest but I’m at a point in my career where my vision is crystal clear, and for now I’m on a mission.” She explained, “A mission to nurture the new and next generation. A mission to ensure that my industry—the fashion industry—is a place that’s diverse and of equal opportunity, and I’m on a mission to change the narrative and perception of the great continent of Africa!”

This is something the icon has been vocal about. Just last month, she announced that she “has pledged to change perceptions about Africa.” This is a truly noble undertaking we are a hundred percent behind. Yet again, Naomi shows us how a true #queen does it.
