Confession: I’ve been binge-watching RuPaul’s Drag Race and I totally understand why all-around entertainer RuPaul Charles is greatly admired. He is a drag queen (the “king of queens”), singer, actor, producer, and entrepreneur. If you were his parents, you wouldn’t imagine your kid to be this well-known and successful growing up. Right?
Well, apparently, RuPaul’s mother somehow knew that her son was going to be a star because a psychic told her so. He told Vogue, “The psychic said, ‘It’s a boy, and he is going to be famous.’ So I grew up knowing that.”
True enough, Ru discovered the world of drag in 1976, began a music career in the early ’80s, and starred in films like The Brady Bunch Movie, Wigstock: The Movie, and But I’m a Cheerleader.
Now, he’s the host of highly-acclaimed reality show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, which is currently in its 11th season. He even started DragCon, a convention bringing together drag queens all over the globe, and also brands that support the LGBTQ+ and drag communities.
I don’t know about you, but that psychic should be paid heftily for that accurate prediction.
