Wave won’t be the only Filipino superhero in Marvel’s newest comic series. The next issue of Aero introduces Sea Hunter, a new hero who’ll fight alongside the Agents of Atlas.
Illustrator Kael Ngu, who worked on the cover for Aero #3, announced the new character on his Facebook page last Monday. It shows Wave standing proud with her sword and Sea Hunter on a motorcycle while holding the Philippine flag.
There are no additional details about Sea Hunter yet, but one theory is that, based on her name alone, she can control water like Wave. Although in the Philippine-exclusive cover by Whilce Portacio, she’s wielding a flaming spear. Maybe she can use both elements?

Another thing we noticed is she’s also wearing armor similar to the Dora Milaje in Black Panther, which actually had elements inspired by Filipino tribal decor. But that might just be a coincidence. (Or is it?)
If you want to read about Wave and Sea Hunter’s adventures, Aero #3 is now available for pre-order on Marvel’s site and Comic Odyssey. The issue will be out on Sept. 18.
Are you excited to see Sea Hunter in action?
