If Capricorn season was all about getting sh*t done, Aquarius season this year is about relationship-building, especially with yourself.
Mercury isn’t in retrograde yet, but it did enter Aquarius on Jan. 16. Stephanie Powell, head of content at Astology.com, tells Refinery29, “When Mercury, ruler of our thought processes, communication, and opinions, travels through cool and detached Aquarius, there is a noticeable shift in our collective mental space.Aquarius is known for its innovation and freedom-seeking ways, and with Mercury’s entrance into this sign, we’re more eager to introduce and accept out-of-the-box ideas.”
Mercury’s presence, which will last until Feb. 3 before it enters Pisces and goes retrograde on Feb. 16, will push us to process problems you’ve experienced recently and making decisions based on facts, not emotions. This is sound advice considering that January is breakup month—Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler, and James Reid and Nadine Lustre are proof.
If you’re going through a breakup this month, here’s what you need to remember while Mercury is in Aquarius.
Facts first, emotions later
Sometimes emotions can cloud our judgment, causing us to make impulsive decisions we might regret later. Astrologer Lisa Stardust notes that the best way to prevent this is to “make decisive choices based on an indifferent perspective.”
“This isn’t bad. It just means we are separating emotions from facts, which will allow us to have a discerning approach to finding truths,” Stardust tells Refinery29. This advice can be useful when you’re trying to make sense of what happened in your past relationship/s.
Make choices for yourself
Powell noted that we’ll be a little more opinionated and stubborn, meaning we won’t always listen to other people’s advice. On the plus side, Your Tango noted that Aquarius season is the perfect time to “start making choices that align with who we are instead of trying to make everyone else happy.”
Don’t neglect others’ feelings
Aquarius season is also all about building and strengthening relationships. Although it’s important to do things for your own happiness and satisfaction, you should also be mindful of how you act towards the people around you. Tarot.com noted that you might hurt or neglect some people’s feelings while Mercury is in Aquarius. “It’s possible that we’ll lose touch with our sensitive sides, so we need to do our best to handle any conversations we have during this time with care.”
