Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK), in partnership with The Center for Art, New Ventures & Sustainable Development (CANVAS), on Nov. 25, Wednesday, launched KKK2: Kalikasan, Kabataan, Kinabukasan, an online exhibit as their joint response to climate change.

Ang INK is the first and only organization in the Philippines committed to the creation and promotion of illustration for children. For its 29th year, the INK’s annual exhibit has chosen climate change as its theme.

Ara Villena, president of Ang INK, cites the many calamities that plagued the country this year, starting from the eruption of Taal Volcano, to the spread of COVID-19 and recent typhoons Rolly and Ulysses. These are disasters brought about by climate change, she notes. And while people are also responsible for their cause, the youth are empowered to address them as well.

KKK2 aims to teach children that there is still hope, and that the power to turn things around is in their hands. They can fight and work for cleaner air, clearer waters, and an overall safer environment. After all, we always say the future is in the hands of the youth.

To abide with COVID-19 protocols, the exhibit will be purely online (we know, we all miss the feeling of visiting exhibit openings with our friends). It also serves as a peek into “I Am The Change in Climate Change” a book partnership in collaboration with Canvas to be launched in April 2021.

Lastly, make sure not to miss out on Ang INK’s live programs on its Facebook page on November 29. There will be a storytelling session, an illustrating workshop and an eco-friendly gift-wrapping session, perfect for the holidays! Check the schedule below:
