Why do people think it’s okay to objectify 17-year-old Billie Eilish?

A post shared by BILLIE EILISH (@billieeilish)

Singer Billie Eilish was recently photographed wearing a white tank top—a different look as she usually wears baggy clothes. And for some reason, one netizen thought it was okay to thirst over Billie’s body after seeing the photo. The comment itself was already inappropriate, but it’s even more disturbing that they had no problem sexualizing and objectifying a 17-year-old.

The netizen first tweeted how “THICK” Billie looks in the tank top photos. They then defended their actions because “Billie Eilish is not a minor… She’s legal now in almost half of the country, and all countries outside of the US.” It didn’t stop there—they also said Billie should just wear a hijab or an abaya if she doesn’t want to receive such comments.

She just should wear an Abaya and Hijab from now on

They also referenced Billie’s lyrics in “Bad Guy” and an Instagram post she jokingly captioned with “comment ur d*ck size” to try and drive their point home. They’re really trying to look innocent here.

Okay, first of all: The age of majority in the US is between 18 to 21 years old. Any age below that is considered a minor. So anyone who thinks they’re not sexualizing and objectifying Billie Eilish is clearly looking for an out.

Also, saying that Billie should just wear a hijab or abaya to cover up is not only disrespectful to Muslim women, it’s proof that women are still being told to adjust their appearance to prevent jeering eyes. We are the ones being harassed, but we are the ones who need to look “proper”? Get out of here.

In the first place, Billie has been wearing baggy clothes for years now because she doesn’t want people objectifying her body. The moment she does wear something revealing, the creeps come out. This situation all just proved how right she was about some people.

I don’t even like billie eilish but can all of u stop sexualising a minor for wearing a tank top ffs yes she has tits now move on

This shouldn’t be something that any young girl or adult woman should ever go through. We should be free to wear what we want, without fearing harassment or assault of any form.
