The IG grandparents breaking fashion and beauty barriers

In this progressive world, senior citizens are now highly regarded on social media, especially on platforms like Instagram and YouTube where conventional standards of beauty thrive. Now, seniors are showing they can make it big in fashion and beauty, and that age is merely a number.

Today is Grandparents’ Day, so we decided to put the spotlight on grandparents who are challenging standards and just living their best lives while still achieving success at their age (some with the help of their children and grandchildren). Be sure to tap follow on these accounts!

Baddie Winkle

91-year-old Baddie Winkle is known for her colorful and quirky style, as well as her humorous IG posts. According to Information Cradle, her granddaughter, Kennedy, helps manage her account, and acts as her manager-slash-stylist. After becoming an online sensation, she snatched a campaign for Missguided and a collab with INC.redible Cosmetics.

Yasmina Rossi

Model and grandmother of two Yasmina Rossi (also goes by Yazemeenah) is known for working with brands such as Marks & Spencer, Hermès, and Macy’s. She is signed with Metro Models, and her online profile contains her editorial and endorsement campaigns.

Emiko Mori

Artist Chinami Mori had her grandma, Emiko, model her colorful woven scarves. The photos later went viral on Instagram and Emiko became an instant social media star. Recently, Chinami has been making woven bags and asking Emiko to pose with them while giving a big smile to the camera.

Paulina Porizkova

In 1983, model Paulina Porizkova was featured in “Sports Illustrated’s” swimsuit issue. This year, at 53, she came back to do another shoot for the magazine to prove that women are beautiful and confident at any age. She told “People,” “Although I am militant about aging women still being sexy and beautiful, I don’t always feel that way. But refusing was out of the question. I was honored to be invited to break a barrier.”

Lyn Slater (Accidental Icon)

Lyn Slater is a fashion blogger, inspirational speaker, and professor with a Ph.D in social welfare. If you follow her on Instagram, you’ll see her wearing the latest fashion trends while posing against street art and doing #ads. But during her downtime, she tells Fabulous After 40 that she loves wearing comfortable knits while playing with her granddaughter.

Melissa55

YouTuber Melissa55 is 64 years old and has seven grandchildren. She started her channel six years ago and is still going strong until now. She’s known for doing cosmetic and skincare videos, but now she’s doing more fashion content and collaborating with her family for Q&As.

Tetsuya

Retired chemistry teacher-turned-Instagram star Tetsuya is the only grandpa on this list. According to Bored Panda, his grandson, Naoya Kudo, was the one who convinced him to wear fashionable outfits and pose for photos while vacationing in their hometown in Akita Prefecture. “He was enthusiastic about it. He suggested the shooting locations and everything,” Naoya told the site.

If you’re showing love for these Insta-famous elders, don’t forget to do the same for your own grandparents today and every day. Happy Grandparents’ Day!
