Milan Fashion Week took some notes from ‘Euphoria’

It seems like our obsession with fashion week makeup will never end. This time, we’re directing our focus on Milan Fashion Week (MFW) and the graphic eye looks that appeared on the runway.

The MFW runways featured a variety of eye looks—from neon lids, colorful inner corners, to stickers on the edge of the eyes. Many would credit the ongoing “Euphoria” hype for this because of the show’s popular and its unique take on makeup as a storytelling tool.

Thanks to the show, people are now paying close attention to detail when it comes to eyeshadow and eyeliner. You can argue that it didn’t start the unique makeup trends we see on the show (hello, Pat McGrath), but it’s undeniable it motivated more people to experiment.

That said, let’s see the bold looks at the MFW SS20 shows.

Makeup artist Andrew Gallimore created pastel eyeshadow looks completed with iridescent liner stickers shaped like lightning strikes. It’s safe to say these liner styles are the next big thing, especially with Lady Gaga doing the same thing for Haus Labs.

Salvatore Ferragamo

For the Ferragamo show, models sported Murano glass-inspired rainbow lids. According to “Allure,” makeup artist achieved this by stacking rectangular swatches of cream shadows on the lids.

One of the “Euphoria”-esque looks included this one by makeup artist Benjamin Puckey. He used white eyeshadow on the inner and outer corner of the eyes. It’s reminiscent of the cloud eye look Jules has in one of the episodes.

Fendi

Remember Rue’s glitter tears in “Euphoria”? Fendi took notes and had models with silver glitters on the lower lash line paired with dark eyeliner.

Cividini

Models rocked a combination of pastel blue and purple eyeshadow at Cividini’s show. Makeup on the rest of the face was kept minimal so the eyes stand out more.

Tiziano Guardini

At Tiziano Guardini’s show, the eye looks were more subdued, but the hint of light blue still makes the minimalist looks unique and ethereal.

Gucci

Makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver used false lashes in different way for Gucci’s show. Instead of place them on the lash line, he used them to create exaggerated-looking brows and lower lashes. The lid was kept glossy so the lashes and brows were the heroes of the look.
