Coming from a rather hot-climate country like ours, we sometimes prefer to go on vacations where temperature is cooler. Ultimately, we dream of seeing and experiencing snow in the Alps, piling up on those fuzzy layers and scarves for a perfect OOTD in Osaka, or watching the beautiful autumn colors falling off of Ginko Pine trees in Nami Island.
The recently concluded Milan Fashion Week did not fall short of presenting options for the colder days of fall/winter 2019. We have summed up the different kinds of outerwear you can choose from depending on the degree of activities you plan to do, and of course, on the degree of celsius outdoors.
Sweaters
This is one of the most common pieces of garment we can easily get our hands on for a cold destination getaway.
Blazers
Apart from giving us extra warmth, blazers can also elevate a look and make us more put together.
Hoodies
Perhaps one of the most convenient outer garments, hoodies come handy especially when it’s raining.
Bomber jacket
Also similar to Varsity jackets, bomber jackets come in sportier designs and perfectly suits casual wear.
Leather jacket
Known for giving an edgier twist to an ensemble, this type of jacket can vary from lightweight Napa leather or exotic skin.
Trench coats
Originally made of impermeable materials, trench coats are perfect layering garments during fall or spring seasons.
Shearling coats
Shearling, a material obtained from sheep, is known for its cozy feel. This type of jacket is ideal for higher altitude places.
Capes
A sleeveless outer garment worn around the body and shoulders, capes became more popular during the Victorian era. Nowadays, this is used more as a statement piece during formal events.
Wool coats
This is one of the most readily available outerwear for winter. Comes in different styles, lengths and colors, wool coats are perfect both for keeping you warm and making you look fashionable for your OOTD.
Fur coats
The ultimate statement maker, fur coats are most sought after for their elegance and luxurious feel.
Puffy down jackets
The warmest and most practical of all winter jackets for its durability and impermeability, puffer jackets are stuffed with goose feathers. Recently alternative stuffing like cashmere flakes are used in sustainable fashion principles.
Hybrid jackets
Born out of utilitarian and versatility needs, hybrid jackets are a mix of two or more types. This kind of jacket lessens the need for more items as it sometimes even comes with its own bag.
