We’re back with another year-end list to celebrate the women who made a mark on the world. Just like any year, 2019 had its highs and lows. But these ladies didn’t let anything stop them from fighting their causes and achieving their goals. (We all aspire to be them, TBFH.)

Greta Thunberg
Environmental activist, Time’s Person of the Year, and the teen who got into Pres. Donald Trump’s nerves. Greta Thunberg has succeeded in opening the world’s eyes to the jarring state of the climate crisis, and we know her fight isn’t over yet. (We’re also getting a documentary in 2020!)
Vice President Leni Robredo
Last November, Vice President Leni Robredo was appointed as the co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD). She was supposed to hold the position for six months, but Pres. Rodrigo Duterte fired her after two weeks. In that short time span, Robredo suggested alternate solutions to Oplan Tokhang and expressed the need to investigate the drug-related extrajudicial killings.
Robredo’s removal from the ICAD post is still shady. However, she promised everyone that she will share her report on the drug war before December ends or by early January. Watch out for that.
Lizzo
Our self-love queen! Lizzo has been dominating charts and music awards stages the whole year. She just recently wrapped her performance at “Saturday Night Live” and in 2020, she might just win her first Grammy.
Rihanna
Rihanna’s influence this year was so powerful that her inclusive Savage x Fenty lingerie show drove the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to the gutter. She may not be releasing an album anytime soon (we still hope she does), but Riri’s still cashing in on her beauty and fashion endeavors.
Hannah Locsin
Model Hannah Locsin made waves when she walked for Gucci’s spring 2020 show. She’s the second Filipina to do so after Marga Esquivel. Locsin also made an appearance in Gucci’s pre-fall 2020 lookbook.
Twice
It’s undeniable that K-pop group Twice made a splash this 2019 thanks to their world tour. Their comeback single “Feel Special” is still popular among netizens. We don’t blame them: The song is catchy and Twice’s outfits in the music video are A+.
Zozibini Tunzi
Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi has been vocal about giving women the opportunity to lead. She has also become an inspiration for women who’ve been discriminated because of their skin color. We’re now excited to see what’s in store for her in 2020.
