Yesterday, it was reported that actress Bela Padilla filed a case against a man who tried to force his way into her condominium unit. The man was said to have introduced himself as a classmate and partner of Padilla.

According to a report on TV Patrol, the actress feared for her safety when an unfamiliar man tried to enter her unit on Thursday night. “Merong lalaking nagpupumilit umakyat sa unit ko, ang tagal bago siya napaalis. Dumating na ‘yung barangay, pinakiusapan na siya ng guard, ayaw pa rin umalis umabot na actually nang 30 minutes,” she said. It was reported that security personnel asked for the unnamed man’s ID, which led them to discover that he was accompanied by two other men.
“Nagsabi siya na kaklase ko daw siya sa Davao, eh hindi naman ako nag-aral sa Davao. Tapos nag-iba na ‘yung kuwento niya, sabi niya boyfriend ko daw siya, pero I never met this guy,” Padilla told TV Patrol. She then proceeded to press charges for unjust vexation.
Given the events, fans of the young actress started rallying behind her and showing their support through tweeting “Protect Bela,” which trended on Twitter last night. In the tweets, people have been questioning whether respect and privacy are still terms we’re familiar with. Connecting it with the recent issue regarding Sunshine Cruz and her daughters, netizens feel that people should be reminded of the fact that women need to be respected.
A friend tried to comfort me by saying “that’s what’s hard when you’re kind.” But I refuse to change and be mean because of a person who tried to harm me. It’s not my fault if I am kind, it’s his fault that he did something wrong. Don’t let your heart harden because of anyone.

Despite all that’s happened, Padilla told her fans that this won’t stop her from showing kindness to those around her. She shared that she will not change and become mean just because a person wanted to harm her. “It’s not my fault if I am kind, it’s his fault that he did something wrong,” she wrote. “Don’t let your heart harden because of anyone.”
