As an artist, you really can’t contain Kanye West as he makes waves (and tons of controversy) in music, fashion, and just now, interior design. Swedish furniture brand IKEA finally responded to Kanye’s request to collaborate in the best possible way. Then they took it back!
IKEA Australia posted a photo of what looks like a bed set-up for Kanye’s music video for “Famous” with a caption referring to the popular line that got so much heat with the whole Taylor Swift drama.
Rumors started when he was seen in Sweden visiting one of the IKEA stores and recently voiced out his desire to collaborate via an interview. “I have to work with Ikea—make furniture for interior design, for architecture. I want to create a minimalist apartment inside of a college dorm,” he told BBC Radio 1. This new collaboration will help him create pieces that are affordable and can cater to his younger market. We’re pretty sure they’ll swipe furniture pieces up like they do them Yeezy sneakers.
Unfortunately, in an interview with CNBC, a spokesperson for IKEA said that they have no plans in collaborating with the singer. “Although we are really flattered by Kanye West’s high interest in IKEA and the speculation around a joint venture, we have no plans to collaborate at this point in time.”
Sorry, but they said no.
